Auto Tour: Stop 8

They left the San Miguel River where it makes a sharp turn. They were looking to make contact with the Utes, hoping one will become their guide. It is thought that there could be Ute trails in this area. It is here that Cottonwood Creek meets the San Miguel. They would follow Cottonwood Creek to Stop 9.

Today this is where year-round road maintenance ends. There is no winter maintenance from December to April.
