The DEEEP Project is a true labor of love and we are beyond thrilled to see it all come to fruition.

We aim to continue building and growing. For that, we welcome your support.

DEEEP’s purpose has always been to create educational tools (as a gift to the school children of Colorado) in preparation of the 250th anniversary of the Domínguez-Escalante Expedition in Colorado in 2026.

Phase I involved the creation of this website to help local communities, museums, libraries and schools to have the resources they would need to learn about and share the story of the 1776 Expedition. This Phase of DEEEP is now complete. (Please review our Acknowledgments and Who is DEEEP? page. These are the people who made DEEEP possible.)

We are now looking to begin Phase II, named DEEEP Designs, and we need your help in two different ways.
DEEEP Design will have three parts:

1. The ongoing maintenance of our website and the addition of new pages for DEEEP Designs.

2. The creation of “Idea Sheets” or “study guides” to help with discussions for each day the Expedition was in Colorado.

3. Developing tactile (3D) prototypes that will help show how different and challenging the terrain of the Journey was.

DEEEP’s merchandise uses our logo to tell the story of the 1776 Expedition.

The Native American represents the Ute people who served as guide as no white explorer had been this far northwest of Santa Fe. The horse represents their means of travel, but also the difficult terrain they encounter. The Franciscans represent Domínguez and Escalante and the rest of the crew. The sun represents their western travels.

The logo was designed by Split Rock Printworks in Nucla, Colorado and will be handling our merchandise sales.
